It's cool if you can put your data into your GTD application's inbox...
...but the question is: how?? iGTD introduces the F-key magic. No matter where you are- your favorite application: browser, e-mail client, Finder - they're all integrated with iGTD. Select an object. Press the default F6 key or anyone you've chosen in iGTD preferences - and the selection will jump straight into iGTD inbox context.
It works for:
- Safari: a new task is created with the title of the current webpage, a link to its URL and the selected text as note
- many other browsers (Opera, Firefox, BonEcho, Camino): a new task is created with the URL link
- Apple Mail: a new task is created with the content of the message and a link which works if you have MailTags 2.0 installed (see below)
- Microsoft Entourage 2004: a new task is created with the content of the message
- RSS clients (Netnewswire and endo): a new task is created with the current post's name
- Finder and PathFinder files: a new task is created with a link to the Finder's selected file
- Journler
- Yojimbo
- DEVONthink Pro
- text processors: Microsoft Word and Apple Pages
- text editors: TextEdit, TextWrangler and TextMate (extra steps required) - a new task is created with the content of current text file
- WebnoteHappy
- EagleFiler, MacJournal and Mori
- VoodooPad Pro
In Integration preferences you can customize the F-key shortcut for this feature.
iGTD integrates with MailTags 2.0
If you install the MailTags 2.0 - a wonderful Apple Mail
extension prepared by Scott Morisson and InDev
Software, you'll get even more powerful integration to
Mail.app.
After using the F-key trick you'll be able to get back to the message you've put into iGTD - just use the "e-mail message" link:
and the proper message will appear in Apple Mail.
A tighter integration with MT 2.0 is planned and discussed with Scott.
